Tom Pickles, 24, was kayaking on Lake Windermere, about 150 miles south of Glasgow, when he saw several humps pass him in the water as he paddled along.

With his camera phone, he was able to capture some of the best pictures of the Loch Ness Monster’s English cousin, sometimes called “Bownessie”, that have ever been recorded.

This is the 8th reported creature sighting in Lake Windermere in 5 years, England’s largest natural lake. It is a ribbon lake formed in a glacial trough after the retreat of glaciers after the last ice age. The lake has about six square miles of surface area and in over 200 feet deep in areas, compared to Loch Ness at over 28 miles square, but a similar max depth of about 225 feet.

With Loch Ness monster sightings down in the past several years, its good to hear her southern cousin is making an appearance.

Terror suspect, Somali-born Kader Ahmed, 20, told a court he went on a trip arranged by preacher Mohammed Hamid, to Scotland at Christmas 2004. Part of the trip included camping near Loch Ness with hopes of seeing the famed Loch Ness Monster.

Hamid’s group, who included four of the men later convicted of the plot to bomb London on July 21, 2005, were known to go on paintball sessions and other camping trips that are suspected to be a cover for jihadist training courses.

Hamid and Kader Ahmed were both later found guilty for their participation in the training camps.

It has been a slow year for Loch Ness Monster sightings, even leading to rumors that the creature is dead.

“I believe the monster is a spirit that lives in the loch. By transmitting the songs via the pirate radio transmission, the spirit, which I believe is telepathic, will pick up on it and hopefully stir him into life.

It will be broadcast on 106.8FM and the range of the broadcast will be 20 miles in each direction. We won’t be asking people to come along to the broadcast, for obvious reasons, but we also hope to broadcast it over the internet.

The exact date of the broadcast has not been released, neither have the 10 songs that will be played.

The creature appears to be a greenish-brown beast with the reptile-like head is far too long for it to be a turtle.

Fish in the area were said to have beached themselves to escape the mysterious creature, very strange behavior for sure.

Saltern Cove, Paignton is about 200 miles south west of London on the southern coast of England on Tor Bay.

RIP Nessie? Not so fast.

Loch Ness Monster sightings are down the last several years and some people believe this is a sign the occasionally photographed giant creature that inhabits the murky waters of the 22 square mile fresh water loch is dead.

The recent MonsterQuest episode “Death at Loch Ness” looked at the theory that the Loch Ness Monster might be dead. Researcher Robert Rhines’ claim that Nessie may now be dead and its body at the bottom of Loch Ness.

Gary Campbell, president of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club, said there has been only one recent credible sighting, made just off the Clansman Hotel on 6th June, 2009. Campbell added, “Ten years ago we had a lot of good sightings, but in the last two or three years, they have tailed off.”

I guess the Ian Monckton report and pictures from earlier in the year don’t count as credible to Campbell and neither do the ‘Allo ‘Allo star Vicki Michelle’s report from May.

Could the Loch Ness Monster be dead? I guess, depending on what it is to start with.

If you are part of the ‘nessie is a left over plesiosaurs’ crowd, could something like global warming finally catch up with this creature that survived the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event? Never mind that Loch Ness is only about 10,000 years old and Nessie would have had to survive much more extreme climate changes in the last 65 million years. Global Warming’s affect on cryptozoological creatures has been debated before.

I personally think the Loch Ness Monster falls into the ultraterrestrial or paranormal phenomenon, rather than a flesh and blood dinosaur that has survived for 65 million years in a remote Scottish loch. Interdimensional and possibly traveling through space and time, maybe the ‘magic’ of the loch somehow makes it for such a creature to be seen. In that case, no. How could something that may not exist in our world as we know it die?

Loch Ness Monster Found On Google Earth

In 2008, it was rumored that possibly the Loch Ness Monster has died, killed by global warming.

Telegraph.co.uk has declared that Nessie is back, found by a security guard while looking on Google Earth.
