Exploring the weirdness of aliens, UFOs, exopolitics, cryptozoology, sasquatchploitation, other paranormal fortean phenomenon, and ultraterrestrial activities
A recent episode of History Channel’s Monster Quest explored reports of pterodactyl-like creatures that have been seen in the skies of Papua New Guinea. Called a ropen or flying demon, it is said to be bioluminescent and blurry video and photos presented by Monster Quest and monster hunters Paul Nation and Garth Guessman look a lot like the video and photos from the UK and July 4th ORBL sightings.
The natives of Umboi Island of Papua New Guinea have stories of unexplained lights in the skies and tales of giant flying dinosaur like creatures that go back generations. More recent sightings, such as the Duane Hodgkinson “pterodactyl” sighting in 1944 and 1994 Gideon Koro, Wesley Koro, and Mesa Agustin sighting, reporting a huge 20 foot plus wing span on a pteranodon or pterodactyl like creature, a crested head, and in night time sightings a glow or bioluminescent quality.
Weird Events, a new organisation based in Swindon, Wiltshire are holding a series of talks in the run up to their 2010 International paranormal and UFO conference in August. The talks include well known speakers such as Nick Pope (former MoD UFO Helpdesk) and Malcolm Robinson (Well known investigator) amongst other names.
The talks are held in Swindon on the last Saturday of each month and will cover many subjects and beliefs.
Chris Williams, organiser of Weird Events said
“In February we welcome Trystan Swale to Swindon. He has spoken all over the country and we are very pleased that he is talking at our February event. Trystan will be talking on the subject of “Disinformation in Ufology – The Saucer Saboteurs”.
“The talk covers the diluted truths, outright lies and red herrings that abound in the investigation and research field of UFOs.”
“In the late 1990s some 80% of the American population believed successive administrations were withholding information related to the existence of alien visitors to their airspace. As pressure mounts for governments to disclose their knowledge of UFOs, fingers remain pointed at those accused of attempting to derail the efforts of committed UFO researchers. Who are the shady characters attempting to mislead those ufologists who may have strayed too close to the truth?”
“Trystan Swale is a folklore hobbyist and between 2004 and 2009 was an active member of two paranormal investigation teams in southern England. He has investigated a range of phenomena including ghosts, unidentified flying objects and out of place animals. When not busy piecing together and co-hosting Righteous Indignation podcast, Trystan is a teacher by profession”
Chris also said “The talks are aimed at anyone who wants to find out more about the subject matter and with our varied lectures through 2010, there is something for everyone”
The talks are held in “The Restaurant” Kings Hotel, Wood Street, Swindon. The doors open at 7:15pm and each talk finishes around 9:30pm. Entry is only £6.

FoxNews is quick to point out that a recent video claiming to be a UFO near River Liffey outside of Dublin was posted on December 2008 and credited with being filmed over Fremont, California.
AMAZING footage of a UFO has been taken in Ireland – as The Sun re-launches the nation’s X-Files.
A triangular formation of lights was filmed flying at night at “incredible speed”.
Experts reckon the sighting near the River Liffey in Dublin could be a secret aircraft – or spacecraft.
The UFOs resemblance to the ship in the 1979 video game Asteroids ship is… impressive. It even darts around like the in the old school vector graphics video game.
The video was posted on dede95064’s Youtube Channel and matches exactly the one The Sun claims is from Dublin.
The a message on the hotline number says “Please note it is no longer MoD policy to record, respond to, or investigate UFO sightings.”
Click the arrow below to listen to the message
And its not just the hotline, it seems to be the whole project is shut down. A recent statement reads:
“The MoD has no opinion on the existence or otherwise of extra-terrestrial life. However, in over 50 years, no UFO report has revealed any evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom.”
The weather was described as dry and breezy, but not very windy and not particularly cold. The sky was overcast, dark with patchy clouds.
The UFOs were described as ‘moving extraordinarily fast completely at random’ and were witnessed by several people (the commenter, her husband and son and their neighbors). Estimated height was between 1000 and 2000 feet.
Nothing else unusual or odd was reported that day and by 8 pm the lights had disappeared.
Derek Bridges captured the video over his neighbor’s 2,500-acre Laverstoke Park Farm in Overton village, located in Hampshire, England. Overton is west of the town of Basingstoke, and east of Andover and Whitchurch. The farm has one of England’s largest herds of water buffalo and is close to a military base used by special forces.
“I just looked out of the window before going to bed. I wasn’t sure what I was seeing at the time. I have a keen eye and I could see something glowing which looked dark red about half a mile away. I kept looking at it for about 20 minutes and then suddenly a bright white light appeared which was very powerful. At that point I picked up my video camera and filmed what I saw. I saw two white lights lifting up and I just kept filming. The lights were high in the sky. They couldn’t have been anything on the ground.
I did not realise at the time that something was dangling beneath but when I played it back the next day on a big screen I could see it there. I believe it’s a UFO and this animal, which could be a bison or a horse, seems to be being beamed up.
As far as I know, this is the first time anyone in the world has filmed animal abduction, so obviously I’m pretty chuffed.”
Chuffed indeed.
The Sun has dropped the wonderful term ‘Cattlestar Galactica’ as the owner of the farm claims none of his animals are missing.
This report of forty ORBL UFOs from near Chester UK was sent to me in late September. I emailed them back to ask permission to use it in a main post. In that email, they added “I only hope when you do the three people in a van who also stopped beside us (and borrowed our binoculars) read it and can verify what we all witnessed.”
On returning from LLandudno Saturday 21st September 2009 around 9pm whilst travelling on the dual carriageway heading for the motorway towards Manchester and reasonably near to Chester we saw a spectacular sight – there were about 40 of these orange ball lights all spaced out as if in formation – they were quite low down and travelling from the direction of the river Mersey towards our location then began gaining height at a constant steady speed, slowly disappearing into the clouds.
My husband and I stopped at a lay-by and managed to get a better look through the binoculars from the boot of our car. They certainly weren’t air balloons as the lights did not flicker, not planes, not helicopters, weather balloons or birds. When each one reached the clouds there was no light reflecting on the clouds which does happen with planes. As we were stopped other vehicles did the same and the traffic slowed right down. We were stopped for about 20 minutes and were lucky enough to have two spells of a gap in the traffic which lasted around 5 – 6 seconds which gave us the opportunity to listen for the sound coming from them but there was none, just total silence.
We cannot believe that so far we haven’t managed to see anything on the news or in the papers about this as it was such a fantastic sight with so many appearing at once.
Perhaps something has been said and we missed it but as you can see I’ve been periodically looking on the internet which is how I found your statements which perfectly matched the description of what my husband and I both witnessed.
Even if someday an easy explanation comes forth I’ll never forget the amazement, wonder and disbelief of what I and many others saw that night.
I can’t stop looking at the skies in the hope it repeats itself………..
I searched online for any other reports of multiple ORBL sightings from England that night and found none that match both time and description. Starting several nights before, there was a little UFO flap going on. Here are some other sightings from that time period.
The video below is from the same night, but is a single blue-ish white traveling in a straight line. That video was take about 200 mile south near Cardiff, South Glamorgan, UK.
This report is from two night before. Three bright orange lights over 350 miles south of the Chester sightings.
Betts described the experience, ”I couldn’t believe it at first. The shape was about 100ft long and there were four lights coming from it initially. The shape moved slowly and it seemed to pivot on a central axis. Then, without warning, a sudden flash of light like a shooting star went across the sky. It was very strange. I have been an amateur astronomer for the past three years and I’ve never seen anything like it before. It’s unexplained.”
The www.telegraph.co.uk reports that an unnamed police sergeant saw three tall blond men in a field near Avebury, Wiltshire where a recent crop cirlce had been found. The three men were wearing white coveralls and when the officer approached them, he heard “the sound of static electricity” and the three men ran away at an incredible speed.
Who or what these three mysterious men were is not clear. Possibly aliens or Men In Black types who were caught inspecting the area by the police officer.
The Lancashire Evening Post has an interview and article with Jason Robinson, a 34 year old former ‘air defender’ who saw four mysterious craft in the distance while out walking his dog on Monday October 12th near his home in Threefields, Tanterton.
The father of 3 states that as part of his military training he can ‘recognise military planes and civilian planes’ and these were nothing he had seen before.
“I had to know every plane and they were definitely not what we had. We all witnessed that the traffic in the sky above where they were was horrendous. You’d never see that anywhere.
There must have been other people who saw them because they were huge. If you go off the size of a plane, say 60 feet wide. These must have been at least 1,000 feet – that’s how big they were.
It doesn’t look big on there (the phone camera screen) but you can’t even see the planes on there – that’s how big these are to them. You can’t come out with ‘they’re Chinese lanterns.”
Two of his sons, Samuel and Joseph, his girlfriend Tara Hughes, 32, and her mother Joan also witnessed the UFOs.
Robison claims the UFOs were then surrounded by 15 to 20 planes and 4 military helicopters.
Robison says he has video footage where a saucer shaped craft is visible, but has not release the video yet.
